Flight Examiner (FE)

Flight Examiners are pilots who are authorized to carry out the tests and checks required for issuance, revalidation or renewal of any pilot license or rating.

Privileges

  • The privileges of a FE(A) are to conduct skill tests for the issue of the PPL(A) and skill tests and proficiency checks for the associated single-pilot single-engine class/type rating provided that the examiner has completed not less than 1000 hours flight time as a pilot of aeroplanes, including not less than 250 hours flight instruction; and for the associated single-pilot multi-engine class/type ratings provided that the flight examiner has satisfied the requirements of JAR-FCL 1, and
  • To conduct skill tests for the issue of the CPL(A) and skill tests and proficiency checks for the associated single-pilot single-engine class/type rating provided that the examiner has completed not less than 2000 hours flight time as a pilot of aeroplanes, including not less than 250 hours flight instruction; and for the associated single-pilot multi-engine class/type ratings provided that the flight examiner has satisfied the requirements of JAR-FCL -1.

Authorization

The requirements fır flight examiner authorization include:

  • Flight Examiners must have a license or rating equivalent of the licenses and ratings for which they are delegated to act as examiner to carry out skill tests or proficiency checks and unless otherwise provided, must hold an instructor privilege for such licenses or ratings.
  • The validity of flight examiner authorizations is maximum 3 years.
  • Flight examiner authorizations may be revalidated by the DGCA provided that at least two tests or checks are carried out in each year during such 3-year period, of which at least one shall be observed by an inspector of the DGCA or supervised by an experienced flight examiner delegated for this purpose.
