The duties of the Aerodromes Department are carried out within the organization of 3 Directorates. These Directorates are as follows;

• Ground Handling Directorate
• Aerodrome Standards and Certification Directorate
• Workplace and Facilities Directorate

The duties of the Aerodromes Department are as follows:

To determine the criteria regarding site selection for civil aerodromes landing and take-off areas for helicopters and naval-air facilities, as well as any kind of landing and take-off runways, which will be built, and to inspect the practices thereto;

To determine the principles for operation and development of the existing civil aerodromes, landing and take-off areas for helicopters and naval-air facilities, and to inspect the practices thereto;

To determine the principles for certification of aerodromes open for civil aviation traffic, and to inspect the practices thereto. d) To prepare the obstacle plans of civil aerodromes, to cooperate with the relevant organizations in respect of complying with the plans, and to provide opinions in compliance with the development plans to be prepared by the local authorities in accordance with the obstacle plans;

To determine the principles for use of civil aerodromes for any other purposes, to inform the relevant organizations about the matter, and to ensure cooperation with the same;

To carry out the arrangements in relation to authorization of the service providers to serve at the airports, to take the required measures in order to ensure safe and secure conduct of the same in compliance with the provisions of the national regulations or to have such measures taken, to supervise the same, and to monitor the practices thereto;

To ensure and monitor implementation of the international standards in respect of the aerodrome facilities;

To carry out and to fulfill any such other duties to be assigned by the Director General.
