4 Feb 2015With the Air Transport Agreement that Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Directorate General of Civil Aviation signed with Liberia, Turkey’s worldwide flight network reached to 164.
At the end of the negotiations, which was held between the Civil Aviation Authorities of Turkey and Liberia on 20-21 January 2015 in İstanbul, a Bilateral Aviation Agreement was signed that leads to start of the flights between two countries.
Together with this Agreement, that was initialled by Deputy Director General of Civil Aviation Mr. Bahri KESİCİ and Director Genel of Civil Aviation of Liberia Mr. Richelieu A. WILLIAMS, the designated airlines of both countries are provided to enter into marketing arrangements such as blocked space, code sharing or other commercial arrangements with the other airlines including the third party.

In accordance with the signed Memorandum of Understanding; Turkish Carriers will have the right to operate weekly 21 frequency of passenger services and 14 frequency of cargo services to Monravia, the Capital City of Liberia. With this agreement, Turkish carriers will have the possibility to get access to 98 percent of the population and 99 percent of the economy on the African continent.
With the Agreement, signed with Liberia, Turkey’s number of the agreements has reached to 52 among the 54 African Countries and 164 among 191 ICAO Member States.
