Hollanda Emniyet Kurulu 25 Şubat 2009 tarihinde Schipol Havalimanı Polderbaan 'a (18 Sağ Pisti) inişinden çok kısa bir süre önce kaza yapan B737-800 ile ilgili yapılan araştırtmanın ilk bulgusunun sonucu olarak Boeing'e uyarı/ikaz 'da bulunmuştur. Otomatik yönlendirme sisteminin parçası olan otomatik gaz sistemi sol radyo altimetre hatası nedeniyle yanlış bilgi aldı. Kurul Başkanı Profesör Pieter Van Vollenhoven'in Çarşamba günü açıklamasında; uçak halen 1950 feet'te iken radyo irtifası -8 feet olarak rapor etti, bu otomatik gaz sisteminin gücü azaltmasına sebep oldu ve uçağın kalan bütün sistemlerini sanki uçak Polderbaan'ın (18 Sağ Pisti) bir kaç metre üzerindeymiş gibi düzenledi. Türk Hava Yolları uçuş ekibi ne olduğunun farkına vardığı anda etkin bir müdahale için geç kalınmıştı.
Boeing'den bu tipte uçak kullanan bütün kullanıcılara; bu muhtemel riskin farkına varılması için bir uyarı yayınlanması istendi.
Bu isteğe bağlı olarak Boeing firması dünyadaki bütün operatörlere uyarı amaçlı Servis Bülten yayınlamıştır.

Safety Board issues warning to Boeing for possible shortcomings of the radio altimeters of Boeing 737-800
The Dutch Safety Board has issued a warning to Boeing as a result of the first findings of the investigation into the crash of the Boeing 737-800 at 25 February 2009 a few moments before thelanding at the Polderbaan of Schiphol Airport. The automatic throttle system, as a part of the automatic steering system received incorrect information because of a malfunction in the left radioaltimeter. The chairman of the Board, prof. Pieter van Vollenhoven, reported Wednesday that,while the plane was still at an altitude of 1950 feet, the radio altimeter reported an altitude of ' 8 feet, which caused the automatic throttle system to reduce power and configurated the rest of the systems as if the plane was only a few meters above the Polderbaan. When the crew of the Turkish Airlines noticed what was going on, it was already too late to intervene effectively.
Boeing has given notice that a warning will be issued to all users of this type of plane to make them aware of this possible risk.
