Airworthiness Directive relating to Nose Landing Gear Control / Modification Requirements for Tecnam P2008 JC Type Aircraft (TR.AD-2023.02-01) has been published.
It has become necessary for DGCA to take precautions regarding the aircraft accidents and serious incidents involving Tecnam 2008 JC type aircraft on May 31, 2018, April 22, 2022 and August 15, 2022 within the airspace of Türkiye.
As a result of the investigation of the accidents and serious incidents mentioned, it has been determined that the tensile strength of the NLG (nose landing gear) strut and support sub-fittings in Tecnam P2008 JC type aircraft is weak, cracks and damages may occur at the welding points, the front wheel (disc) is separated from the aircraft due to damage to the said sub-fittings even when landing relatively positively, and the nose strut is also sensitive to hard-landing. It was assessed that this situation, if not detected and corrected in advance, could lead to NLG failure, which could result in damage to the aircraft and injury to the crew.
In this context, our Directorate General has made correspondence with the relevant manufacturer company, carried out studies on corrective actions, and as a result of these studies, the Airworthiness Directive (TR.AD-2023.02-01) attached has been prepared. The Airworthiness Directive (TR.AD-2023.02-01) prepared by our Directorate General shall be implemented and followed by the relevant businesses and real persons operating with Tecnam 2008 JC type aircraft within the specified periods.
